About the fairbanksirl.com contributors & staff…
fairbanksirl.com is the new, pre-preeminent (getting there, anyway) news source for the city of Fairbanks, the state of Alaska and, really, the whole universe.
Born of snow and ardor, fairbanksirl was birthed in November 2011 and has been growing out of its britches ever since. A man called Tom Phillips was (and is) the mother and father, the story behind which he loves to tell. His top crony, comrade and confidant, Jay Eaton, played the part of midwife at the birth and has since been a consistent source of considerate counsel and ruthless criticism.
Tom is a trained scientist who enjoys using said training in a variety of pursuits, such as policing transfer sites, playing God with plant R.N.A., and listening to/playing music. Tom also enjoys not traveling, being productive with his time, and astrology (which he admits is ‘weird’). Mr. Phillips can be contacted at articles@fairbanksirl.com.
Jay is an untrained scientist who enjoys using said non-training in a variety of pursuits, such as going to the transfer site only when necessary, playing God with his dog & cat, and listening to/listening to music. Jay also enjoys travel, shirking responsibility, and throwing coins into urinals (which he admits is ‘weird’). Mr. Eaton can be contacted at human.in.training@gmail.com.
Also present since the beginning, and not to be underestimated, is the worthy ‘News Drone’. News Drone is programmed to hunt down the most interesting news from the News World, facsimilize (sic) it onto our site, give due credit, and thus bring it your table, ready-to-eat.
Granted, fairbanksirl is trying to phase-out News Drone’s pirated news in favor of more original content, but, nonetheless, our loyal Drone is deserving of a few words here: News Drone speaks French fluently and enjoys reading and learning. Its favorite film is ‘Rashomon’ and it hates getting its picture taken (because of patents that are still pending on portions of its exoskeleton, low self-esteem, etc.). It can be contacted at drone@fairbanksirl.com.
New to the fairbanksirl team are staff writers Susan Thatcher and John Thomas. Suffice it to say, Susan enjoys watching films at the Blue Loon and hates having to wait for a shower at B & C Laundry; John enjoys people-watching downtown and hates it when people leave their cars idling too long.

Lastly, and leastly, are our three contributors, Constance Billmeier, Nicholas Matta, and Musa Luna. Constance is a University of Alaska graduate with a B.S. in anthropology and a minor in acting, though she spends most of her time working for ‘the Man’. Nicholas Matta (a.k.a., ‘Aux 78′) is not a University of Alaska graduate, is an accomplished musician/sound technician, and enjoys falling asleep during films — he also spends most of his time working for ‘the Man’. Musa Luna is a University of the Stars graduate, with an M.S. in intuitive clairvoyance and has been giving readings for 17 years — she doesn’t even believe in ‘the Man’.
